Circular Quarterly [typescript], 1902-1948.

Bound collection of letters and photographs called the Circular Quarterly, 1902-48, submitted by some of the members of the Harvard Class of 1897 and gathered, copied and distributed to all participants every three months by classmate Sinclair Kennedy. The quarterly includes letters by Charles Davis Drew, Robert Darrah Jenks, Henry Wilder Foote, Sinclair Kennedy, Roland Burrage Dixon, James Duncan Phillips, Henry Barrett Huntington (called Barrett), Henry Vincent Hubbard, Henry Russell Scott, and James Edgar Gregg; photographs; clippings; and memorabilia. The letters pertain to the lives of alumni in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, and England, among many other places, and include descriptions of their career in medicine, law, religion, higher education, and business. Also includes descriptions of travels in North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa; marriages, birth of children, and time spent with family and friends; participation in World War I; political opinions and activities; social engagements; and alumni activities at Harvard. This collection also contains photographs taken by various Circular Quarterly participants to illustrate the letters submitted to the publication. Most of the photos are of members' travels in South America, Europe, Asia, Austrialia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, Canada, and the Western U.S. There are also a number of photographs of James Duncan Phillips's military training with the National Guard during World War I, as well as photos of various participants' homes and families in Massachusetts, among other places. Contributing photographers include Roland Burrage Dixon, Charles Davis Drew, Henry Foote Wilder, Robert Darrah Jenks, Sinclair Kennedy, and James Duncan Phillips. Most of the photos are black-and-white snapshots; there are also some photo-postcards.
